Recently, we have received some questions from a few vegan Conid owners about our products and the materials we use. We are happy to announce that from now on, all of our pens, including our specials and limited editions, are completely vegan friendly.
Up until now, Conid has been using shellac to attach the separate ink windows in our Kingsizes. Shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac bug, on trees in the forests of India and Thailand. It is often used as an adhesive or as a high-gloss varnish. This means that shellac is unfortunately not vegan friendly.
However, we most recently stepped away from the shellac and chose another adhesive, an industrial cyanoacrylate kind. We mainly chose this product because it improves our workflow. It causes a better and stronger seal of the ink window at a shorter time. In that way, we upgraded the quality of our Bulkfillers once again.
This also means that one hundred percent of our materials is now completely vegan friendly, a very positive and conscious evolution in our Bulkfiller manufacturing process. Of course, the production of our pens is free of any sort of animal testing as well ;).
With this adaption, we hope to meet the standards of our vegan Conid owners and put another step forward to an environmentally friendly way of writing.
